Trauma can have very confusing effects on someone that persist long after the traumatic experiences are over.

  • You might find yourself jumpy and on edge, dealing with dreams or intrusive thoughts that aren't aligned with who you are, or experiencing a kind of depression and general lack of excitement about the future that feels very hard to shake. 

  • You might have beliefs about the world that you know aren't true but feel so true it's impossible to really imagine feeling otherwise.

  • You might feel like you're "damaged" and will never get to have some of the positive experiences other people do.

I've helped clients with a variety of traumatic experiences feel more at home in themselves and the world again. We'll work together using different possible approaches, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), principles of interpersonal neurobiology, and narrative therapy to identify what's getting in the way of being able to come to terms with what you've been through or are going through and to help you get some relief and understanding.
