Frequently Asked Questions

What is therapy like?

Therapeutic experiences are as unique as the people who attend them! We'll determine your specific goals at the beginning of our work together and tailor our sessions to what you're hoping to get. I'm generally not going to tell you exactly what you should do or give you specific advice, but we will collaborate together to find new solutions to things that have been bothering you.

Why do people go to therapy?

There are so many reasons! Everything from personal growth and self-development to managing a mental health diagnosis or neurotype to navigating a specific event or experience is fair game. You don't have to be in crisis for it to be worthwhile.

Who do you work with?

I work with adult clients (18 or older) who reside in the state of Texas. The majority of my clients are neurodivergent, involved in some kind of creative or entrepreneurial work, or both! I do not currently work with clients under the age of 18 and only see clients individually, so I do not work with couples or families.

How often will I meet with you? For how long?

I recommend that clients start with weekly or biweekly sessions and then reduce the frequency as they start to gain more insight or experience a reduction in the struggles they are entering therapy for. Sessions are normally 50-55 minutes long. The total length of therapy can be hard to predict because everyone starts therapy in a very different place, but it is my goal for you to not attend therapy for longer than is useful for you.

Do you accept insurance?

I am currently in-network with Aetna and Optum, which includes United Healthcare and Oscar plans. If you have another type of insurance, I am happy to discuss how you might be reimbursed for your sessions if you have out of network benefits through your plan.

What is your cancellation policy?

Clients must cancel 24 hours before the beginning of their session time in order to not be charged a late cancellation fee. If the late cancellation is due to an emergency or unforeseen circumstance, you will generally not be charged.

How will I know that therapy is working?

You and I will set goals relatively early in the therapy process and continue to check in at regular intervals to make sure you are getting what you're wanting in therapy. The positive effects of therapy vary greatly based on what you're coming in for, but clients often report an increased understanding of themselves and others, more insight into some of the struggles, or the ability to use new skills and ways of navigating the world that they didn't have before. Open conversation about how you're feeling in therapy and things I could be doing differently in our sessions are very important to me.
